Who I Am
I have spent my career dedicated to public service, local leadership, and community-driven solutions. Since 2008, I have served as an elected official, first as a member of the Bear Valley Unified School District Governing Board, and since 2014, as a member of the Big Bear Lake City Council. I have been honored to serve as Mayor Pro Tem multiple times and as Mayor twice, in 2020 and 2023.
Beyond City Council, I have taken on leadership roles that directly impact the region, including serving as Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Mountain Area Regional Transit Authority, Chairman for the Big Bear Fire Authority, and Director of the Mojave Desert Mountain Integrated Waste Joint Powers Authority. I have served as President of the Desert-Mountain Division of the League of California Cities, and as a Regional Councilmember for the Southern California Association of Governments, representing District 11, which includes Barstow, Big Bear Lake, Needles, Twentynine Palms, and the Town of Yucca Valley. I represented local government as an advisor to the Southern California Montane Forests Project, a groundbreaking conservation initiative focused on preserving Southern California’s forests. In 2024, I was appointed to the League of California Cities' state-wide Board of Directors.
My contributions to public service have been recognized at the highest levels. In 2023, I received Cal Cities’ Larry Chimbole Outstanding Public Service Award, which honors elected officials who exemplify dedication to municipal governance and public service. In 2024 I was honored with the Cal Cities' Triple Torch Award, the highest level of recognition for commitment to continuing education and service.
Outside of public office, I have built a career in business and education advocacy. I have spent 25 years providing marketing and technology solutions to corporate and government clients through my consulting firm. I also founded Chirp Nature Center in Big Bear Lake in 2018, a local business dedicated to environmental education and community engagement. As a strong advocate for education, I am a founding member of the Bear Valley Education Trust and have consistently worked to improve schools across California.
Big Bear Lake has been my home for 25 years. It’s where I raised my family, built my business, and developed deep roots in the community. My wife, Beth, is a former schoolteacher and a technology executive for a multinational corporation. Together, we have four adult children and two energetic border collies. I am an avid nature enthusiast who loves trail running and mountain biking in the surrounding forest and desert.
California Assembly District 34 is more than a district to me—it’s my home. I am running because I believe in the strength of our communities, the power of balanced leadership, and the ability to make a meaningful difference. I am ready to serve, to listen, to bridge divides, and to fight for a better future for all of us.
